Folding in a source whose tactics are mostly rejected

What you're doing and why
Not every expert playbook should be copied whole. The Indexsy channel (797 transcripts) mixes genuinely valuable operating detail — cold-email copy that closes, who actually pays rent, honest episodes about renters who stop paying — with tactics that are against our rules or flatly illegal (bought Google Business Profiles, paid review surges, link schemes). The job was to fold in the good fifth while making sure the rejected four-fifths can never sneak back in as if they were new ideas. A source is not a yes/no decision; it's an item-by-item decision with the reasons written down.
The exact steps
- Start from the playbook doc's contradiction ledger (ours had 9 items). For each item, decide: adopt, gate as an experiment, or reject — with a one-line reason the owner approved.
- Fold ONLY the adopt/gate items into the skill, one dated section per reference file, each opening with "only the doctrine-compatible items are folded here; the rest stays rejected in the ledger".
- For gated experiments, write the gate INTO the skill text (e.g. parasite posts: one site, prove indexation and rank, then decide) so the next session can't scale it by accident.
- Where the source's gray tactic has a legitimate core, fold the legit version only (keyword-in-GBP-name via legal rebrand — not bought verifications).
- Update the skill's main source note to enumerate the rejected tactics by name, so future sessions don't re-import them from the raw transcripts.
- Log it in the ROADMAP the same day.
What it looked like for us
Adopted and folded: the capacity cold email ("do you have capacity for an extra 20–25 clients a month?" — no link, no method talk), cold-email infrastructure rules (lookalike domains, 3 inboxes per domain, ~30 sends/day/account), the niche payer table (lawyers and accountants pay; realtors and restaurants don't), the monetization ladder (per-lead → rent → network deals → GBP-attached at ~10× economics), the 500-site €26k/month European case, and his steelman on delinquent payers (collections risk priced into unit economics). Gated: local parasite posts (one-site experiment). Rejected and left in the ledger: naked exact-match domains, 300-citation blasts, PBN link tiers, CTR manipulation, bought/faked GBP verifications, fake unit numbers, paid review surges, 200-page same-day launches.
Gotchas
- The same channel argues with itself. Indexsy's own "rank & rent is dead" episode contradicts his how-to episodes — and that contrarian tape turned out to be the most useful one for prioritization. Read the pessimist episodes, not just the tutorials.
- Gray tactics smuggle in legitimate cores. "Buy a verified GBP" is rejected, but buried in the same episode is a real lesson: target the geography your address can actually win. Fold the core, name the rejected wrapper.
- Rejections need names, not vibes. "Spammy stuff is rejected" gets re-litigated every session; a 9-item ledger with reasons and dates does not.
- Dollar figures from vlogs need verification against the transcript. Auto-captions mangle numbers ($349 parasite posts, €50/site/month, 0-for-34 closers were all re-checked in the raw files before folding).
