How the Renter Finder spots businesses that already want your leads

  • live DataForSEO pull for Ozark MO septic
  • 2 API calls ≈ $0.02
  • raw JSON in pipeline/renter-finder-poc/

What you're doing and why

Your site ranks and collects leads. Now you need ONE local business to rent it. You don't cold-call the whole phone book — you rank prospects by how badly they already want leads. Two data pulls (the platform runs them for you) reveal exactly who that is.

The exact steps

  1. In your dashboard, open the site once it flips to "ready to sell" — the prospect list is generated automatically. Under the hood it pulls two things for your keyword + city:
    • the Google results page: who's PAYING for ads, who's in the map pack, who ranks free;
    • the Google Maps roster: every local business with ratings, review counts, phone, website.
  2. Read the fit signals, hottest first:
    • Running ads but not ranking free = they're literally paying per click for what your #1 site gives them. Your pitch: "stop renting Google's clicks, rent the #1 site instead."
    • In the map pack or maps with NO WEBSITE = real, visible business with zero web lead capture. Your site becomes their entire web presence overnight.
    • Great reviews but buried in results = capacity + reputation, starving for visibility.
  3. Skip the cold ones: businesses already ranking top-3 organically (they don't need you) and national franchises (corporate marketing owns their spend).
  4. Call or pitch the top 2–3 only. The proof bank (real leads your site already captured) is the evidence you lead with.

What it looked like for us

Live pull for "septic pumping ozark mo" (2 calls, ~2 cents):

  • Austin's Pumping & Plumbing — running Google Ads, NOT in the top 10 free results, not in the map pack. Hottest possible prospect: already paying for leads.
  • Southwest Sewer & Septic — TWO ad placements, only #8 free. Actively investing in leads.
  • Active Septic Services — IN the map pack, 4.3★ (16 reviews)… and NO WEBSITE. Visible, real, and cannot capture a single web lead today.
  • IPE Septic Solutions — 5.0★ (10 reviews), no website.
  • Cold: Sunshine Septic (already ranks #6–7 + map pack), Envirotek (#5), Roto-Rooter (franchise).

Also honest: our own ozarksepticpumping.com wasn't in the top 20 yet on pull day — it was submitted for indexing 2 days earlier. Ranking takes weeks; the prospect list is ready before the site is, which is exactly the point.

Gotchas

  • Directories (Yelp, Angi) holding #1 and #4 is GOOD news — it means no strong local business owns the term, which is why your site can take it.
  • "No website" ≠ "no good": check the review count. 10+ reviews with no site = hot. 2 reviews with no site = maybe too small to pay rent.
  • Don't pitch the business that already ranks #1 free. They'll ask why they need you. (They don't.)
